Project summary

  • Adapting agriculture to climate change is about building resilience into farming systems. The diversity of rules and norms used by farmers to sustainably share natural resources is essential to improve resilience and adapt to global changes. The big question now is how much diversity there is and how it is evolving. The EU-funded RESILIENT RULES project aims to find answers and bridge the knowledge gap. To that end, it will focus on small-scale farming systems around the world and explore whether institutional diversity and evolving institutions are increasing our capacity to sustainably manage natural resources. Specifically, it will assess the contribution of institutional diversity to long-term resilience to global changes.
