Recovering and building back better after the COVID-19 pandemic

Resilience is a fundamental material skill. In the last couple of years, it has become more than that and now has far-reaching significance in politics and everyday life. Resilience is about bouncing back after a crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic forced the European Union (EU) to examine its capacities in this regard. To address this challenge, the EU-funded ROBUST project aims to initiate a paradigm shift from 'resilience' to 'robustness', which is about building back better as a central principle of future crisis governance. The project team will analyse the responses of EU institutions and 8 European countries to the financial, refugee and COVID-19 crises to identify best practices. The ROBUST dataset will identify key factors for robust crisis governance.
