Emulsions are key materials for medical use as they facilitate the delivery of nutrients, drugs, diagnostic agents and more. Pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and spectral sensing are some of the sectors that rely on dynamically reconfigurable complex emulsions. The EU-funded SMARTDROPS project will investigate advanced functional pharmaceutical emulsions, original smart complex emulsions (SCEs), and maximise their dynamic potential through novel integrated devices. More specifically, the project will focus on SCE applications to create new dynamically controlled lens devices, high-performance organic electronic devices and sensors based on SCE.
