Grant agreement ID: 101069690
It is possible to convert fossil and renewable methane into hydrogen (H2) with zero CO2 emissions. The EU-funded STORMING project team has an innovative solution. It will develop structured reactors that are heated with renewable electricity to make the conversion to H2 and carbon nanotubes for battery applications. Specifically, innovative, highly active and easily regenerable iron catalysts will be developed through waste-free processes, via a smart protocol for rational catalyst design. The overall objective of the project is the electrification (by microwave or ohmic heating) of structured reactors, designed by computational fluid dynamics and prepared by 3D printing to enable precise thermal control leading to high energy efficiency.
