The FOR-Alimenta project aims to create an agri-food and agri-tourism hub in the central Pyrenees, considering education, continuous training and professionalisation of the actors in the territory as a backbone of the territory. The importance of the agri-food and agri-tourism sector is reflected in the socio-economic development, in the landscape and in the culture of the territory itself, so it is essential to facilitate training and employment in these sectors as one of the vectors of growth, innovation and maintenance of the population. For the project it is also very significant to reflect the employment opportunities and potential of these sectors for young people, people with disabilities and citizens at risk of social exclusion. Of strategic importance to this hub is the creation of cross-border networks (producers, distributors, restaurants, chefs, hotel and catering schools, universities, etc.) that facilitate equal access to education and training and facilitate the sharing of knowledge, good practices and services, such as a shared distribution platform. In the same way, this hub seeks the valorisation of local products and their prioritisation in the different channels through the study of the potential of the sector by means of innovation, and the communication of the values and wealth of its products and, therefore, that this sector represents in the territory.

Finally, this project seeks to contribute to the professionalisation of agrotourism, which is also necessary to highlight an activity that complements the activity of the producers, and as a gateway to visit the territory.

The FOR-Alimenta project has been co-financed 65% by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2021-2027). The objective of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area.
