(eStrategia PIRenaica de Avisos por movimientos de Ladera). The aim of SPIRAL is to reduce the economic impact of slope movements (landslides and landslides) in the Aragonese, Catalan and French Pyrenees in view of the significant economic losses caused by the disruption of communication networks and damage to housing and hydraulic infrastructures.

Acronym: SPIRAL
Principal Investigator of the project: Jesús Guerrero Iturbe
Contact: jgiturbe@unizar.es

The orographic and climatic conditions of the Pyrenees make slope movements (landslides and landslides) one of the natural phenomena that cause the greatest economic losses due to disruption of communication networks and damage to housing and hydraulic infrastructures. The main objective of SPIRAL is to reduce the economic impact of landslides in the Aragonese, Catalan and French Pyrenees by adopting a common cross-border protection strategy that benefits the entire population. Its achievement requires: (1) the elaboration of detailed mapping, (2) in situ and remote monitoring of the most dangerous movements and (3) the development of action protocols that anticipate where and when slope movements may occur.

The SPIRAL project has been co-financed 65% by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain-France-Andorra Programme (POCTEFA 2021-2027). The objective of POCTEFA is to strengthen the economic and social integration of the Spain-France-Andorra border area.
